Chronic diseases are those that make their presence felt constantly to those who are suffering from them. More often than not, these chronic diseases lead to the death or irreversible disability of the patient. In the United States of America, chronic diseases are the leading cause of death.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition. It is extremely disabling for those who are sufferimg from it. The pain is usually continuous and relentless. Sleep disorders and fatigue syndromes also become regular features of this condition. The people who have this are often tired and suffering from a lot of pain continuously. This situation can lead to only one result. There is absolute abnormality as far as regular day-to-day activities are concerned.

Disability comes at an early stage of this disease. It is difficult for such a person to concentrate on his/her social life or career. This situation may lead to the patient either losing his or her job or losing his or her social group, or worse still, both.

The worst thing about this disease is perhaps the fact that although the pain and the fatigue are chronic, the symptoms remain invisible. In addition to that, the fact that the diagnosis of the disease is difficult makes it extremely tough for the patients of this illness to fit in. They are often labeled hypochondriacs or neurotics. Some medical practitioners even deny recognizing it as a disease.

As there is no fixed pattern for treating this condition, the disease, which began as chronic, remains chronic and incurable. The only relief that is available for this condition is temporary. Analgesics, antidepressants, and anti-inflammatory medicines are used for providing patients with this temporary relief. Such a solution is not only fake but may also cause other irreversible side effects apart from the agony of the disease itself.
